Safety Specialist

Safety Program Support

Assist in implementing and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

Support the development of job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments.

Training & Communication

Deliver safety orientation and ongoing training for employees and contractors.

Promote safety awareness through signage, campaigns, and toolbox talks.

Maintain training records and ensure documentation is up to date.

Incident Response & Investigation

Respond to workplace incidents and near-misses, ensuring timely reporting and documentation.

Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and food industry safety standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP).

Assist with regulatory reporting and documentation.

Stay informed on changes in safety regulations and best practices.

Collaboration & Culture Building

Work closely with HR, operations, and maintenance teams to support safe work practices.

Engage employees in safety initiatives and encourage proactive hazard reporting.

Support emergency preparedness and response planning.

Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.

2+ years of experience in workplace safety, preferably in food manufacturing or industrial settings.

Knowledge of OSHA regulations and food safety standards.

Other applicable safety certifications or trainings such as, OSHA 30, ASP, etc.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
