About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: The RN will provide care in a medical-surgical and telemetry environment. The facility includes 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma center. Average census for the unit is 28 with a bed capacity of 32. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder surgeries, appendectomies, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and small bowel obstructions. Patient ratios for days are 1:4-6 and nights 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially reaching 1:7-8. Certified nursing assistants will assist with vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugar monitoring. A receptionist will perform rounding and secretarial duties, while charge nurses are available to assist with patient care. Phlebotomy services are available, and other support includes respiratory therapy and hospitalist services, both available 24/7. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing involves Omnicell. Telemetry monitoring will be conducted by trained technicians. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice, and travel time between facilities will be compensated if floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation and a possibility of low census call. Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays. Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays. Shift times follow a rotating schedule every 6 weeks. Scrub color is navy.
