Customs Coordinator

Job Description U.S. Customs Coordinator (Import/Export Compliance) Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid: onsite 4 days/week, remote 1 day/week) Schedule: Flexible—may include weekends during peak periods Pay: $73,000 - $76,000 A confidential, well-established organization is seeking a U.S. Customs Coordinator to support import/export operations and ensure adherence to U.S. trade and customs regulations . This role will coordinate customs-related activities, maintain compliance documentation, and collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure efficient customs clearance and on-time execution. Key Responsibilities Work within the U.S. customs environment, including tariff classification, country of origin, and duty application Calculate duty impact to determine the appropriate type of U.S. entry Serve as the primary point of contact for U.S. customs operations matters Issue export documentation and proactively follow up on outbound shipments from the U.S., including FedEx shipments Prepare customs documentation for weekly equipment transfers to a Canadian division Demonstrate knowledge of TIB and ATA Carnets by preparing related documentation, proactively following up, and closing items properly Support internal teams with import/export questions and day-to-day trade inquiries Verify and approve ACH preliminary reports and brokerage invoices Partner with freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure smooth export operations and timely clearance Participate in weekly operational meetings and cross-functional meetings (including sales and asset management) to keep customs needs aligned with project timelines Update and track in-transit equipment/packages in R2 (equipment/logistics management system); advise leadership and Asset Management on compliance-driven moves Collaborate with Global Trade Compliance to improve/maintain import/export policies and procedures Perform additional customs-related tasks as assigned by the Customs Manager or Asset Management Director Qualifications Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent demonstrated competency) 5+ years of experience in U.S. and international customs and import/export operations Strong understanding of customs terminology, clearance processes, customs documents, and tariff/product classification (HTS codes) ACE Portal experience (user level) Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) Audio-visual industry knowledge is a plus Experience with R2 inventory software is a plus Skills & Work Style High attention to detail and accuracy Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities Strong communication skills (written and verbal) across internal and external stakeholders Strong analytical/problem-solving ability Team-oriented with excellent customer service skills Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to change What’s Offered Competitive compensation and group insurance plan 401(k) with employer contribution Skills development and advancement opportunities Employee assistance program Paid time off & referral program Supportive workplace focused on employee well-being #J-18808-Ljbffr Tews Company
