Department Information This position is open only to Colorado state residents. Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Division of Facilities Management - South District The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) is a customer-driven support organization responsible for operating, maintaining and managing the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards. This is done in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, patients, consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities, campuses and in the surrounding neighborhoods. These services include the day-to-day facility maintenance and operational needs of buildings, grounds, custodial and fleet services. South District Services The Following Facilities Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) Pueblo Regional Center (PRC) Department of Corrections (DOC) Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike, Spring Creek and Pueblo Youth Services Center) Veteran’s Community Living Centers in the Southern District, as needed. Description of Job This is a full time, in person and essential position. You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times. Please note: Work arrangements are subject to change at any time. This unit exists to perform Housekeeping and Custodial services to assure that the facilities and client environments are cleaned and maintained according to all applicable regulatory standards, and provides a safe sanitary environment for clients and staff. Meet the facilities needs of the Department of Human Services Southern Region customers while managing available resources to provide a physical environment at the highest quality possible. Additionally, the unit establishes and maintains a pleasant, safe, and sanitary environment for clients, personnel and visitors in the buildings of the Department of Human Services. This position is unique in that it provides Custodial Services for a wide range of agencies within the Department of Human Services, which include Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo campus, the Division of Youth Corrections and the Division supporting Developmental Disabilities. The position is required to meet and maintain all regulatory requirements set by JCAHO, (Joint Commission for Accrediting Health Organizations), the Colorado Department of Public Health, and other regulatory agencies. Duties Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work areas as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment consisting of sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and other duties as assigned. The position requires the driving of State vehicles from agency to agency for which we provide services to. Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned area as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment – consisting of washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures. Performs weekly project work within all areas including all hard floor and carpet areas. Performs project floor work consisting of buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and sealing of hard floor surfaces, and spot cleaning, shampooing and extracting of carpeted floors by use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment. Collects and disposes of trash and biohazard waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations. The removal of desks, chairs etc., to conduct project floor work in all areas on a weekly basis. Participates in moving of furniture, appliances, equipment, supplies, etc. manually and by use of moving equipment. May need to assist in snow removal when needed. Cleans and services equipment, maintains janitorial closet, supplies, stock levels, and chemical labeling requirements. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Call Back applies when an eligible nonexempt employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift. An eligible nonexempt employee does not have to be on call eligible to receive call back pay. If there is no release from work between the call back hours and regular shift, it is considered a continuation of the shift and call back does not apply; instead, if applicable, the nonexempt employee may earn overtime or compensatory time. When a nonexempt employee is called back, they are entitled to a minimum of two (2) hours of their regular base pay (call back pay) or pay for the actual amount of time spent responding to the call, whichever is greater. Call back time is counted as work time. Essential Positions . Positions that perform essential services directly necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents and offenders of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can only be FLSA nonexempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Applicants must have three (3) months of cleaning experience as stated on your application. Preferred Qualifications And Competencies Relevant years of State service. Ability to maintain a set schedule to finish cleaning, maintenance, and other tasks to meet facility needs. Ability to follow set cleaning procedures for various facilities; knowledge of project floor work such as buffing and waxing; ability to maintain cleaning supplies inventory and order new supplies appropriately Ability to identify problematic areas within facilities and clean facilities thoroughly. Able to scrub surfaces, move furniture, shovel snow, and dispose of waste appropriately. Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities (ie. educational institutions, hospitals, long-term care facilities, etc...) Experience sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, as well as performing general dusting and vacuuming within a facility. Experience working with the mental health and/or locked adolescent population. Conditions Of Employment This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application, and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position. Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Check Travel – This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignment from site to site equipped with tools to perform daily duties. Travel to training and meetings. On occasion, this position travels to other districts. Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption. Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test. Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption. Will be required to work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours. Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials – Proximity to moving, mechanical parts; Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; Exposure to electrical shock, and or working in high exposed places. Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must: Disclose that information on the application. CDHS Selection Process Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hours per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
