Director of Operations

Job Description Reporting directly to the COO, the primary function of the Director of Operations will be to take daily leadership, management and full operational responsibility for L.W. Schneider in order to meet facility targets for customer, employee and supplier satisfaction while achieving company strategy objectives and a safe work environment. Lead management team operating production, quality, inventory control, set up, purchasing and maintenance departments. The primary focus of this position is: Assure adequate support and direction to Production, Inventory Control, Maintenance and Purchasing departments Develop, implement and maintain company strategies and objectives. Customer Expectation Adherence. Maintain HR and Safety compliance in conjunction with Managers and HR Manager. Maintain a safe work environment. Principal Accountabilities Develop optimum levels of leadership, encouragement and talent development to achieve goals and objectives. Manage, develop & review performance of Management Team to achieve desired outcomes. Ensure customer service levels exceed L.W. Schneider requirements through ensuring direct reports are exceeding the defined standards for customer excellence. Support and provide influence with HR to the needs of all departments. Ensure compliance with all L.W. Schneider policies, procedures and legislative compliances. Deliver results and work effectively in a Matrix style environment. Develop, implement and assure adherence to L.W. Schneider metrics. Deliver against quality, production, maintenance and budget targets. Create and maintain a safe workplace. Contribute to sales and budgetary forecasts. Oversee continuous improvement projects towards safety, quality, spending and efficiencies. Oversee purchasing planning, vendor negotiations and vendor contract requests. Assist with overseeing planning, development and launch plans for Company strategies and new product programs. Plan, collaborate and manage internal communications and awareness of L.W. Schneider direction. Act as a leadership liaison representing LW Schneider vision, philosophy and policies. Review employee evaluations, disciplinary actions and approve wage increases for all departments excluding Engineering, HR and Office Staff. Job Requirements Minimum of five but preferably ten years industrial manufacturing field experience with a work history demonstrating continuous advancement. Minimum 7 years of Senior Management or Director experience with 200+ or more members over multiple manufacturing departments. Possess a history of creating and managing continuous improvement projects with proven results. Must be computer literate and able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software and inventory systems. Experience with a manufacturing environment of raw material to a finished state process over multiple machining processes and internal/external secondary operations. Education / Training Training in lean production methods, problem solving and OSHA Safety is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Business related field required. Competencies Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S Philosophy and Root Cause Analysis Must have a history of building relationships and fostering teamwork with multiple departments. Must possess a passion for continuous improvement and creative thinking.
