Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel CVICU RN – Frye Regional Medical Center | Hickory, NC Facility: Frye Regional Medical Center Health System: Duke LifePoint Department: CVICU Contract: Travel RN Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week Weekends: Every other weekend or as needed by the facility Call: None Local Rule: Must live 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate 2026 Required Start Dates CVICU Unit Details 8-bed CVICU Ratios: Typically 1:2 , with occasional 1:1 Adult and geriatric population EMR: Cerner Floating required per scheduled rotation Common Cases CABG TAVR STEMI Carotid procedures Complex cardiovascular surgical and critical-care patients Equipment / Skills RN should be comfortable managing: Impella IABP CRRT Post-operative cardiac surgery patients High-acuity cardiovascular patients Requirements Minimum 1.5 years RN experience At least 1 year of CVICU experience after orientation ACLS BLS CCRN preferred Associate Degree in Nursing required Strong critical-thinking and independent critical-care skills Facility Highlights Frye Regional Medical Center is a 355-bed hospital with: Frye Regional Brain Center Heart Center Cancer Center Lung Center Orthopedics General and Vascular Surgery Women’s Center Level III NICU 32-bed Emergency Department 29-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit 15-bed surgical suite Separate 81-bed adult behavioral health hospital Recruiter Notes Strongest candidate will have recent CVICU experience with CABG/TAVR patients plus Impella, IABP, and CRRT competency .
