Staff Nurse

All qualified candidates are eligible for a sign on incentive of up to $10,000 Burn Treatment Center and Intermediate Care Unit The unit is a 17-bed facility equipped with a hydrotherapy room, pediatric playroom, and rehabilitation gym. It provides care for adult and pediatric burn patients, as well as adults requiring intermediate monitoring. The unit also offers outpatient Burn Clinic services, burn outreach education, and an annual Burn Camp. Since 1996, the American College of Surgeons has designated the unit as a Level I Burn Center. Responsibilities Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations. Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings. Develops patient care plans based on condition, age, psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors to attain expected outcomes. Implements patient care plans, documents interventions and family response, and adjusts care as needed. Integrates patient and family contributions into multidisciplinary care plans. Coordinates transfer and discharge planning throughout the episode of care. Follows unit policies, procedures, and protocols, including universal precautions, to maintain a safe environment. Job Details Percent of Time: 60% Schedule: Day and night rotating shifts; every other holiday rotation Location: Iowa City, Iowa (regular salaried position) Salary: Minimum $61,183 at 100% effort; varies by experience and effort Pay Plan: SEIU Pay Plan ( Pay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts; premium pay for additional shifts over 4 hours; inpatient differential up to $10,000 per year based on percent time. Education Required Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA). Experience Required Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary team. General computer skills. Certifications Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required by date of hire. Desirable Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing highly desired. Active enrollment in a BSN program if Baccalaureate degree not yet obtained. Previous healthcare experience with burn patients. Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
