Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager leads maintenance operations across multiple plant locations, ensuring equipment, facilities, and supporting systems are safe, reliable, and available for production. This role develops the maintenance team, establishes preventive and predictive maintenance programs, coordinates repairs and capital work, manages resources and vendors, and drives continuous improvement in equipment performance, regulatory compliance, and cost control.

Requirements

Leadership and Team Management

• Directly manage and develop a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance personnel, ensuring adequate staffing and skills development.
• Foster a strong safety culture and accountability within the maintenance organization.
• Coordinate maintenance priorities with plant managers and production supervisors.
• Standardize maintenance practices across sites where feasible.

Maintenance Strategy and Reliability

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance schedules and CMMS optimization.
• Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset life.
• Analyze equipment failures and lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Establish maintenance KPIs and track performance, including downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), maintenance cost, and backlog.

Operations and Technical Oversight

• Oversee maintenance of process equipment, including mixers, boilers, pumps, piping systems, valves, and heat exchangers.
• Oversee electrical and control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, MCCs, motors, wiring, and lighting.
• Oversee fabrication and welding activities involving tanks, piping, catwalks, platforms, and structural repairs.
• Oversee facilities and grounds, including buildings, roofing, HVAC, utilities, parking areas, and drainage.
• Ensure all work complies with company policies and applicable OSHA, NFPA, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate major repairs, shutdowns, and capital projects with production teams and contractors as needed.

Budgeting and Resource Management

• Develop project quotes to support capital expense and repair and maintenance budgeting and priorities.
• Control maintenance spending, spare-parts inventory, and contractor usage.
• Negotiate with vendors and service providers for parts, equipment, and specialized services.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production disruptions.

Safety Compliance and Emergency Response

• Serve as a designated member of the Emergency Action Team (EAT) under the site Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
• Participate in emergency drills and real-world incident response as required.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and company safety policies.
• Lead or support incident investigations related to equipment or maintenance activities.
• Promote safe work practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined-space entry, hot work, electrical safety, and required permit systems.
• Maintain accurate and timely maintenance, labor, purchasing, project, and equipment records using Vista, B2W/Bid2Win, UKG, Inform, the CMMS, and other company programs related to the position.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible industrial maintenance experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
• Experience developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs and working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 480V systems, motors, controls, instrumentation, PLCs, VFDs, and MCCs.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, piping, and hydraulics.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment, conduct root-cause analysis, and improve reliability.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, LOTO, confined-space, hot-work, and electrical-safety requirements.
• Ability to lead employees, manage competing priorities, communicate across departments, and make sound decisions in urgent situations.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Associate or bachelor's degree in industrial maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Multi-site maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of welding and fabrication, including experience with structural steel and stainless-steel piping.
• Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel between plant locations and respond to maintenance emergencies outside normal business hours as needed.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in office, plant, shop, and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, heat, cold, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and access equipment areas for inspections and troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and use required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
