This executive leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing performance across all departments, strengthening financial results, and supporting the continued growth and success of the organization.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will develop and execute strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer and driver experiences, expand market opportunities, and position zTrip for long-term success in an evolving transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities of a VP of Operations:

Executive Leadership & Operations Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all operational functions within the Dulles market
• Develop and execute business strategies that support growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and profitability
• Lead transportation operations, fleet services, dispatch, customer service, driver support, and field operations teams
• Establish performance objectives and accountability measures that drive organizational success
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, productivity, and service quality
• Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on operational planning and business strategy

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop directors, managers, and operational leaders
• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and results
• Support recruiting, talent development, succession planning, and employee retention initiatives
• Foster a workplace culture centered on safety, professionalism, innovation, and customer service
• Promote effective communication and collaboration across departments and leadership teams
• Develop future leaders through coaching, training, and professional development opportunities

Fleet, Safety & Compliance Oversight

• Direct fleet performance initiatives focused on utilization, vehicle readiness, maintenance, and operational availability
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
• Strengthen safety programs and risk management practices across all areas of operation
• Monitor operational performance metrics and implement strategies that maximize efficiency while minimizing downtime
• Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards
• Drive a culture of safety and operational excellence throughout the organization

Financial Performance & Business Growth

• Partner with executive leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term strategic plans
• Oversee financial performance, expense management, and profitability initiatives
• Analyze operational and financial data to identify growth opportunities and performance improvements
• Develop strategies that increase market share, revenue, and operational efficiency
• Support business development efforts, strategic partnerships, and contract opportunities
• Lead initiatives that contribute to sustainable growth and scalability

Customer & Driver Experience

• Champion a customer-first and driver-focused culture throughout the organization
• Establish service standards that enhance satisfaction, reliability, and brand loyalty
• Monitor customer and driver feedback to identify opportunities for improvement
• Collaborate with leadership teams to strengthen service quality and operational responsiveness
• Ensure a positive experience for both drivers and passengers while maintaining operational excellence

Qualifications of a VP of Operations:

• 7+ years of senior leadership experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, mobility services, or a related industry
• Proven success leading large-scale, multi-department operations
• Strong understanding of transportation management, fleet operations, driver relations, and regulatory compliance
• Experience managing budgets, financial performance, operational KPIs, and strategic planning initiatives
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development abilities
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
• Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities
• Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
• Results-driven leader with a commitment to safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement
