Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our team. The Senior Corporate Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and supports the day-to-day corporate accounting function, with primary responsibility for general ledger accuracy, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. This role independently manages assigned corporate balance sheet and income statement accounts, researches and resolves accounting discrepancies, supervises and develops Staff Accountant(s), and supports accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains general ledger accuracy for assigned corporate balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Prepares and posts journal entries and performs complex account reconciliations.

• Leads month-end and year-end close activities for assigned areas, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Researches and resolves accounting discrepancies and variances, escalating complex issues as needed.

• Supervises, trains, and develops Staff Accountant(s), including reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness.

• Ensures compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

• Supports the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.

• Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for assigned accounts.

• Supports internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.

• Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and other departments to resolve accounting and reporting issues.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

• Four (4) or more years of progressive general ledger and account reconciliation experience, preferably in the construction industry.

• Working knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage assigned accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies.

Preferred:

• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation.

• Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or training accounting staff.

• Experience in the construction industry.

• Experience using Vista ERP or similar construction accounting systems.

OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of GAAP, general accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.

• Knowledge of construction industry financial practices and compliance requirements.

• Skill in general ledger account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

• Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite and Vista ERP systems.

• Skill in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including pivot tables and financial modeling.

• Ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies.

• Ability to supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff.

• Ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to management.

Work Environment

• Light work environment. General office settings with limited exposure to light physical and occasional uncomfortable environmental conditions. Work may require lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional exposure to light, noise, dust, time pressure, etc.
