Join to apply for the Benefits Consultant role at NC Department of Health and Human Services The OSHR Flexible Benefits Division administers statewide 125 benefit and wellness programs for North Carolina state employees, university employees, select community colleges, and charter schools with a pre-tax voluntary benefits program. Program administration includes product design, vendor selection, vendor management, compliance, and coordination with key stakeholders. In addition to offering the State of North Carolina’s Section 125 benefit program includes worksite wellness, employee awards and recognition, and financial wellness. We are in search of a dynamic and experienced benefits professional to become a part of our team, responsible for administering the NCFlex benefit program. This position will offer education and guidance to the state’s Health Benefit Representatives (HBR), state employees, and management. The role will be situated in the western region of the state, which includes the following counties: Alleghany, Alexander, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancy. This Role Will Entail The Following Responsibilities Work with personnel from agencies, universities, community colleges, and charter schools to inform their staff about the NCFlex benefits. Provide coaching and training to benefit representatives regarding NCFlex benefits. Sustain a consultative partnership with benefit representatives from agencies, universities, community colleges, and charter schools to guarantee effective communication and emphasize customer service. Utilize various presentation methods such as PowerPoint. Oversee employee educational initiatives, including presentations and benefit fairs, which may involve traveling to these events. Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences Proven expertise in delivering presentations and training on benefits plans, procedures, and processes. Established experience with employee benefit programs and enrollment systems. Required experience in managing HR benefit policies and procedures. Demonstrated skills in technical analysis and problem-solving. Knowledgeable of modern office methods and equipment, including experience with personal computers utilizing SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Experience in gathering statistical data for reporting related to employee benefits. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Licensure Or Credentials Required Must have a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
