Position Overview

Preferred Therapy Center is actively seeking a committed full-time Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated team in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing the recovery journey of patients by assisting licensed Physical Therapists in implementing tailored treatment plans designed to restore mobility and improve the overall quality of life.

Work Environment

This position is onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility. Here, you will collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment with fellow healthcare providers, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Our modern therapy areas are equipped with advanced rehabilitation tools and technologies, supporting effective treatment and patient outcomes. You will work primarily during regular hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with occasional adjustments to support patient care needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs, focusing on enhancing mobility, strength, and functional outcomes.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and stretches aimed at achieving pain relief, increasing strength, and promoting physical well-being.
• Educate patients on biomechanics, proper exercise techniques, and self-management strategies through home exercise programs to facilitate recovery outside the therapy environment.
• Administer various modalities, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, while adhering to the protocols set by supervising Physical Therapists.
• Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking key metrics such as range of motion, strength gains, and functional status to inform treatment adjustments.
• Ensure treatment areas are prepared and organized, with all necessary equipment and materials readily available to optimize therapeutic sessions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care, ensuring treatment strategies are executed efficiently and effectively.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation, fostering a positive atmosphere that motivates and promotes adherence to treatment plans.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions, ensuring patient rights and privacy are respected.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will serve a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgical procedures, elderly patients managing chronic conditions, children with developmental challenges, and athletes rehabilitating from sports injuries. Your ability to adapt treatment techniques to meet the unique needs of each patient will be crucial in facilitating their recovery and enhancing their quality of life.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or an Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
• A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in California.
• Strong foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic interventions relevant to physical rehabilitation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in executing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with patients and effectively collaborate with colleagues in the healthcare setting.
• A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, with a genuine desire to assist individuals in achieving their rehabilitation objectives.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a rehabilitation or clinical setting is highly desirable, particularly in an acute care or outpatient environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used for documentation and tracking patient progress.
• Previous training in patient education or engagement strategies will be beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this full-time position is competitive, ranging from USD 50,000 to 70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
