Job Description:

• Shift: 7:30-4pm Monday-Friday

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.

• • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.

• • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

• • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

• • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.

• • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

• • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

• • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.

• • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.

• • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.

• • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.

• • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]

• • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]

• • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]

• • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]

• • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]

• • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]

• • Good organizational skills [Preferred]

• • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]

• • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]

• • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

• • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]

• • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]

• • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]

• • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
