District Technical Representative II

Job Summary The District Technical Representative (DTR) supports Siplast roofing, building envelope, and waterproofing systems for low‑slope roof types in commercial construction and provides additional support for GAF, GAF Energy and other Standard Industries businesses as needed. The DTR is responsible for conducting roofing system start‑ups, interim and final inspections, and managing guarantee claims within the assigned territory/region. He/She has strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with contractors, clients, and internal stakeholders. The role also includes thorough reporting and administrative tasks, maintaining schedule, time, and expense management, and adhering to field safety practices. This position reports directly to the Regional Field Services Manager or Area Director and generally requires the establishment of, and operation from, an in‑home office. Essential Duties Conduct milestone inspections such as pre‑construction, interim, and final for new construction roofing, building envelope and waterproofing projects and leak and complaint inspections for finished projects Assist in problem resolution, investigate complaints and guarantee claims, including providing on‑site evaluations and written documentation to internal and external business partners and owners/customers Deliver on‑site and remote training for contractors, installers, and internal employees to ensure product knowledge and installation standards for the entire Siplast product line with additional support for GAF, GAF Energy and other Standard Industries businesses as needed Serve as a technical resource for project teams, providing troubleshooting assistance and field recommendations Complete and submit accurate field reports, inspection documentation, and guarantee assessments in a timely manner Manage schedules to prioritize open inspections, mileage and expense reports in alignment with company policies and ensure cost effectiveness Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment, following established safety protocols, using appropriate personal protective equipment, participating in safety training, reporting hazards or incidents promptly and complying with all safety regulations Qualifications Required High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 5+ years of construction and/or roofing experience Experience managing client/customer relationships Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal Critical thinking, problem solving and problem resolution skills Ability to travel as necessary Ability to have and maintain a company credit card for business related expenses Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record (DL number) Qualifications Preferred Bilingual: English/Spanish Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or recognized industrial certification relating to building materials, construction or similar technical products Exceptional knowledge in roof theory and application including hands‑on skills Self‑disciplined and motivated; a self‑starter with initiative Strong organizational and planning skills including ability to follow up and manage time effectively Ability to teach others Strong mechanical aptitude Understanding of basic drafting, with ability to read blueprints Ability to establish and maintain business relationships Experience with Google Suite or Microsoft Office and other programs such as Salesforce Physical Demands Stationary position – occasionally Move/traverse – frequently Stationary position/seated – occasionally Transport/lifting – occasionally Transport/carrying – occasionally Exerting force/pushing – occasionally Exerting force/pulling – occasionally Ascend/descend – frequently Balancing – occasionally Position self/stooping – frequently Position self/kneeling – frequently Position self/crouching – frequently Position self/crawling – rarely Reaching – constantly Handling – constantly Grasping – frequently Feeling – frequently Communicate/talking – frequently Communicate/hearing – frequently Repetitive motions – rarely Coordination – frequently Climbing – frequently Working Conditions Extreme cold – occasionally Extreme heat – frequently Humid – frequently Wet – occasionally Noise – occasionally Hazards – occasionally Temperature change – occasionally Atmospheric conditions – occasionally Travel Requirements 30–60% travel to customers, events, and off‑site meetings. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary Range: $81,000–$103,500 (exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses).
