Clackamas County Health Centers is seeking a motivated and experienced leader to join our Dental Program as a Dental Clinic Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity for an operational professional who is passionate about supporting high‑performing teams, improving patient access, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional dental care within a community health setting. The Dental Clinic Supervisor provides day‑to‑day operational leadership for assigned dental clinics, ensuring clinics are staffed, scheduled, equipped, and supported to meet patient access, productivity, quality, and service goals. Working closely with dental leadership, this position oversees clinic workflows, supports staff development, implements operational improvements, and helps create an environment where both patients and employees can thrive. The Clackamas County Health Centers Dental Program includes Sunnyside Dental Clinic, Beavercreek Dental Clinic, Gladstone Dental Clinic, and Sandy Dental Clinic. Together, our teams provide comprehensive preventive and restorative dental services that improve oral health and overall well‑being for community members of all ages. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to balance daily operational demands with long‑term program objectives. They will be comfortable managing competing priorities, coaching and developing staff, monitoring performance metrics, and leading continuous quality improvement efforts. Required Minimum Qualifications / Transferable Skills Minimum of four (4) years relevant experience that demonstrates the skills and experience needed to be successful in the position. Experience supervising employees in a healthcare/dental environment, including coaching, performance management, employee development, and corrective action. Experience managing clinic operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow improvement, patient flow, and productivity monitoring. Experience developing, implementing, and interpreting policies, procedures, and operational standards while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements. Preferred Qualifications / Transferable Skills Experience working in a unionized environment and applying collective bargaining agreements. Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or public health setting. Hands‑on experience performing/assisting with dental procedures in a clinical setting, including knowledge of dental instruments, materials, sterilization, and back‑office operations. Experience using EPIC Wisdom. Pre‑Employment Requirements Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check. Driving may be necessary for County business. For position(s) with occasional/incidental driving, incumbents must possess a valid driver’s license. Typical Tasks Leadership & Clinic Operations Provide operational leadership for assigned Clackamas County dental clinics. Develop and implement workflows and processes that support patient access, productivity, quality, and service goals. Plan, prioritize, and coordinate staffing, schedules, and operational activities to ensure efficient clinic operations. Monitor and improve clinic workflows, policies, procedures, and performance metrics. Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions to support staff, patients, and clinic performance. Oversee day‑to‑day clinic operations, including dental program‑related administrative and front office functions. Supervise auxiliary staff and provide operational oversight and support to Dentists and Dental Hygienists. Approve payroll, leave requests, staffing assignments, and resource allocations to ensure appropriate clinic coverage and continuity of care. Human Resources Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of auxiliary dental staff. Ensure compliance with required trainings, organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures. Support credentialing and licensure processes, including maintenance of required documentation. Conduct performance evaluations, probationary reviews, and ongoing coaching to support employee growth and accountability. Provide operational and teamwork‑related input regarding the performance of licensed dental professionals. Coordinate student and extern rotations in partnership with dental schools and training programs. Apply County personnel policies and collective bargaining agreement provisions in daily supervisory practices. Address employee relations matters and support performance management and corrective action processes. Financial & Budget Oversight Monitor expenditures and resource utilization to support budget goals and operational efficiency. Oversee staffing levels, timekeeping, and schedule management to ensure appropriate clinic coverage and productivity. Manage procurement, inventory, and supply processes to support uninterrupted clinic operations. Optimize provider and staff schedules to maximize patient access and achievement of visit targets. Prepare and maintain required operational, access, and contractual reports. Assess equipment and operational resource needs and coordinate purchasing activities in collaboration with leadership. Quality & Safety Monitor and communicate clinic performance metrics and support continuous quality improvement efforts. Address patient concerns and operational grievances to promote a positive patient experience. Lead initiatives that improve clinic efficiency, patient access, service quality, and operational performance. Promote a culture of safety through participation in safety programs, training, and improvement activities. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and County policies and values. External Relationships Build and maintain collaborative relationships with dental leadership, internal stakeholders, community partners, and referral sources to support program goals and patient care. Coordinate with external organizations and agencies to improve access to services and support continuity of care for patients. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the dental program. Work Schedule This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday. Specific work hours will be discussed with the selected candidate at the time of offer. Because this position is responsible for clinic operations and staff supervision, flexibility in scheduling is expected. Work hours may vary periodically to accommodate operational demands, staffing needs, meetings, and other business requirements. This position is designated as on‑site/in‑person. The selected candidate is expected to perform duties at assigned clinic locations and maintain a regular on‑site presence to support staff, clinic operations, and patient care services. Eligible newly hired employees will have the one‑time option to frontload their first year of vacation accruals! This means you have access to vacation time at time of hire. 8 hours of sick accrual per month. 10 paid holidays and 1 personal day per year. Other Benefits: Membership in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)/Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP). Employer‑paid 6% PERS retirement contribution (The county currently pays the employee's share of the retirement contribution). OPSRP members get vested after five years of contributions or when they reach age 65. A choice of medical plans that include chiropractic coverage, alternative care, vision, and prescription drug coverage. A choice of dental plans. Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Longevity pay. Other retirement savings options that allow for additional retirement funds savings, including an option to contribute a portion of employee earnings on a pre or post‑tax basis to a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. We provide services at our Integrated Primary Health Care Clinics, our mental health clinics, or through our School Based Health Centers.
