This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines to ensure reliable data flow into a PostgreSQL database. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ETL processes, data integration, and working with large, complex datasets, including geospatial data.Responsibilities: Design, develop and manage ETL workflows using Apache NiFi to support a geospatial visualization platformLearn the nuances of the existing NiFi system and the related AWS and PostgreSQL infrastructure in order to monitor and troubleshoot real time issuesObtain an understanding of existing NiFi flows with minimal support from othersDevelop new NiFi flows that adopt best practices of existing NiFi flowsTake feedback on NiFi flows and develop requested changesTake direction and communicate status via a ticketing systemInterface with analysts via email, chat, and in person meetings to comprehend future data flow needs and refine general requirements into specific actionsInterface with a development cycle using a local development environment of containerized infrastructure and version control via Git and NiFi RegistryGain competency in geospatial database design and employ best practices for table creation, indexing, and unique constraintsTake feedback from analysts on nuances to support application data layersProgrammatically manipulate and transform data from multiple sourcesQuery and analyze large datasets using SQLRetrieve and process data from external systems via APIsSupport data quality, integrity, and performance optimization effortsUnderstand Python and data science frameworks while differentiating between experimental prototypes and enterprise level software requirementsDevelop Python in support of data science related efforts or ETL prototypesMinimum Qualifications: Experience:Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, ORMaster’s degree with 7+ years of experience, ORDoctorate with 6+ years of experienceDegree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Geography, or a related technical fieldActive TS/SCI clearance with required polygraphU.S. Citizenship requiredWillingness to work onsite full-timeWillingness to develop NiFi flows using existing best practicesStrong understanding of ETL concepts and best practicesStrong experience with databases for data managementProficiency in SQL for querying large datasetsExperience with API integration and data retrievalDemonstrated experience with programmatic data manipulationCompetency to rapidly adopt containerized development proficiencyCompetency to rapidly adopt AWS architecture proficiencyCompetency to rapidly adopt NiFi registry and Git for code managementPreferred Qualifications: Creativity to experiment and recommend best practice coding improvementsDrive to adopt and recommend AI into development processesAbility to design and develop custom NiFi processors using JavaExperience with AWS cloud services for data ingestion and processingStrong experience with PostgreSQL for data managementHands-on experience with Apache AirflowHands-on experience with Apache NiFiHands-on experience with NiFi registry and GitHands-on experience with Git and repository actions and pull requestsHands-on experience in Python for data manipulation and API interfacingExperience working with geospatial data and related toolUnderstanding of basic data science concepts and toolsPay Transparency: In support of pay transparency at Vantor, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings.
