Software Engineer (Hybrid)Location: Weston, FLPay Rate: $61.30/hourDuration: 10/12/2026 - 10/11/2027Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Staff Application Software Engineer (Contractor) who can quickly integrate into an established team and begin delivering production-ready code within the first few weeks. In this role, you will independently design and implement complex software solutions for robotic-assisted surgery products.You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and subject matter experts to develop innovative, market-leading software that meets customer and system requirements. The position requires adherence to Agile development practices and software engineering principles to ensure applications are safe, reliable, and user-friendly.Key ResponsibilitiesQuickly learn and understand existing architecture, codebases, and development workflows.Design and develop application software components according to defined requirements and architectural standards.Follow established coding standards, design principles, and best practices.Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure successful project delivery.Participate in code reviews, unit testing, component testing, code analysis, and defect management activities.Create and maintain software engineering documentation in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.Communicate project progress, technical decisions, risks, and challenges effectively.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.4+ years of professional software development experience.Strong proficiency in C++ and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in a production environment.Ability to work independently and contribute quickly within an established development team.Preferred QualificationsPrevious contractor or consulting experience with a proven ability to join projects mid-stream and become productive quickly.Experience with Qt/QML, Linux, and/or Docker.Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.Experience with: Static and dynamic code analysisMemory managementUnit testing and code coverage toolsCI/CD pipelinesSecurity testingTask, defect, and requirements management systemsKnowledge of: Linear algebraComputational geometryComputer graphicsSoftware architecture and design patternsExperience in: Medical imagingImage processingComputer visionAlgorithm developmentComputer-assisted surgeryRoboticsExperience developing software in regulated environments, preferably within the biomedical or medical device industry.Technical SkillsC++, Object-Oriented Programming, Qt/QML, Linux, Docker, Agile, SDLC, CI/CD, Computer Vision, Robotics, Medical Imaging, Image Processing, Software Architecture, Design Patterns, Computational Geometry, Linear Algebra, Unit Testing, Code Reviews, Defect ManagementAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
