Job Summary: The Bus Monitor assists students with special needs during transport to and from school and/or activities. This role ensures the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles and supports the overall safety of students during loading, transit, and unloading.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students with special needs and other passengers, ensuring safe loading and unloading during both routine and emergency situations.
• Instruct students to enforce rules and regulations, maintaining their safety and well-being.
• Supervise students' needs until they are released to a teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc., ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
• Prepare reports (e.g., incident reports, passenger misconduct) to document activities and comply with established guidelines.
• Secure students and their equipment (e.g., restraints, wheelchair tie-downs, seat belts) to ensure their safety.
• Attend unit meetings, in-service training, and workshops to gather necessary information for job performance.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Job-related experience is desired.
• Skills: Preparing and maintaining accurate records. Operating equipment used in transporting students with special needs. Adherence to safety practices.
• Knowledge: Basic math. Understanding written procedures. Safety practices and procedures.
• Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings, and events. Work with a wide diversity of individuals. Solve practical problems with data and equipment. Maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team.
