Location: Hybrid / Remote with regular in‑person court appearances

Courthouse: Stanley Mosk Courthouse – Los Angeles

Practice Area: Plaintiff‑side Unlawful Detainer (Primarily Residential)

Overview

We are seeking a landlord‑side Unlawful Detainer Attorney to represent property owners and property management companies in fast‑paced eviction litigation. This is a high‑volume, trial‑heavy role ideal for an aggressive litigator who enjoys being in court and moving cases quickly. While remote/hybrid for now, regular appearances in Los Angeles courts are required.

This firm has been operating for 9 years, employs 16 staff, and is in growth mode with plans to significantly expand its LA presence.

Responsibilities

Handle Unlawful Detainer matters from filing through resolution (average case lifecycle ~2 months)

Appear in court for hearings, trials, and motion practice at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse

Conduct bench trials in contested UD cases

Draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and eviction-related filings

Advise landlord clients on eviction strategy, risk, and outcomes

Manage a heavy, fast‑moving caseload independently

Communicate clearly and efficiently with clients and internal staff

Collaborate on litigation and trial strategy with attorneys and legal staff

Required Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Active admission to the California State Bar

3–5+ years of landlord‑side Unlawful Detainer / eviction litigation experience

Trial experience required

Strong knowledge of California landlord‑tenant and eviction law

Ability to thrive in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment

Nice to Have / Ideal Background

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑directed

Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Enjoys fast‑paced litigation and being on offense

Open to “baby attorneys” who are aggressive and eager to be in court

Litigation‑focused law school background preferred (e.g., Southwestern)

Prior experience as a plaintiff‑side litigator, former prosecutor, or government/admin hearings attorney a plus

(Transactional real estate attorneys are generally not a fit)

1600 billable hours/year
