Associate Accounting Analyst

Position Overview The Associate Accounting Analyst assists in the accounting, planning, reporting, and analysis of assigned business activity for the company. The role performs GAAP‑compliant accounting and controls for assigned areas and provides support to business partners in budget development and management. Responsibilities Prepare required recurring analysis, including explanation of variances, for finance/business partners. Review P&L statements to ensure reasonableness and accuracy. Research abnormal situations and identify variances. Prepare, review and process journal entries to accurately reflect financial activities for a given period. Assist the business group in developing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, gathering and sharing additional data and providing trending (prior year, actual vs. budget). Validate monthly balances to ensure they are appropriately stated in accordance with established accounting practices. Prepare and communicate balance composition and variance analysis to management, highlighting issues. Prepare special financial reports requested by the business group and/or finance management. Propose appropriate adjusting journal entries. Review expense invoices for accuracy and proper authorization, ensuring approvals and coding accuracy. Validate internal financial reporting for consistency with GAAP accounting principles; maintain desk procedures and checklists. Collect information for third‑party audits to assist with external reporting and audits. Travel required: No. Office temperature: 65F to 75F. Skills and Requirements General understanding of accounting principles and GAAP. Proficiency in Excel; experience with financial systems and software (e.g., GL package, financial reporting system) preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain relationships. Analytical skills. Physical abilities: none specified. Years of experience: 0–2 years; minimum of 1 year in an accounting role. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
