Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing specialized surgical nursing care within an acute care hospital setting, supporting a variety of surgical procedures across different service lines, excluding cardiovascular surgery. The role emphasizes trauma experience and adherence to safety protocols, with an opportunity to work in a Level I trauma center environment.

Job Details

• Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, typically from 6:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with a total of 40 hours per week
• Experience & Certifications: Minimum of 3 years' experience in operating room nursing, with active BLS certification required and CNOR certification preferred.
• Schedule & Additional Requirements: One weekend shift per month, on-call requirement of once per week (though this may vary). Cannot float outside the scope of practice unless within skill set, and block scheduling is not accommodated. Candidate must have a valid Illinois nursing license in hand or in application process.
• Clinical Skills & Procedure Experience: Proficiency in general surgery including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, and laparoscopic assisted surgeries. Trauma experience with amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injuries is required. Must possess skills in emergency management such as code response, fire safety, and awareness of latex allergies. Experience with organ donation, cervical fusion, craniotomy, lumbar fusion, and specialized equipment like electrosurgical units and Hana tables is essential.
• Facility & Support: The position is based in an acute care hospital with a total of 562 beds, designated as a Level I trauma center. Support services include radiology, respiratory, pharmacy, and phlebotomy teams. Parking is provided at no cost. The work environment excludes cardiovascular service lines and is dedicated to diverse surgical care.
• Additional Details: Orientation includes 40 hours completed remotely, with clinical modules renewed annually. Candidate compliance with licensure, background checks, and certification requirements is mandatory prior to start.
