This leader will collaborate across the organization and with University partners to guide financial strategy, manage investments and risk, support philanthropic growth, and help drive enterprise-wide decision-making.The successful candidate will embody our ExCITE Core Values:ExcellenceChampion high standards, strong financial stewardship, and operational effectiveness that position the Foundation for long-term success.CollaborationPartner closely with Foundation colleagues, University stakeholders, the President & CEO, Board of Trustees, and external partners to support shared goals and mission impact.IntegrityEnsure financial transparency, regulatory compliance, ethical decision-making, and stewardship of donor resources.TenacityLead through complexity and change with resilience, strategic thinking, and a focus on sustainable outcomes.EngagementFoster a culture of mentorship, accountability, inclusion, and meaningful connection across teams and stakeholders.What You'll DoAs CFO, you will:Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the President & CEO and executive leadership teamLead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational financial strategyOversee accounting, treasury, audit, tax, and financial reporting functionsMonitor and strengthen internal controls and enterprise financial risk managementWork closely with the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) and support the Investment Committee in endowment stewardshipPartner with colleagues on gift administration, donor restrictions, and philanthropic financial modelingDevelop key financial dashboards and metrics to support strategic and Board decision-makingLead and mentor a high-performing finance teamDrive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting tools, and operational processesWhat We're Looking ForWe seek a collaborative and visionary financial executive with:Proven success in senior finance leadership (CFO, Controller, or equivalent)Deep expertise in accounting, financial strategy, and organizational stewardshipExperience with complex investment portfolios, including public and private equityStrong understanding of GAAP, GASB, audits, tax compliance, and internal controlsExceptional communication and relationship-building skillsExperience working with governing boards and executive leadershipA leadership style grounded in collaboration, mentorship, and accountabilityA passion for mission-driven work and organizational impactMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fieldCPA certification requiredMinimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experienceExperience with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, tax filings, audits, and complianceExperience supervising and developing teamsPreferred: Master's degree and experience in nonprofit organizations, higher education, foundations, or endowment management.CompensationSalary Range: $177,900 – $227,800Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.Why Join the University of New Mexico Foundation?Join a mission-driven organization committed to strengthening the future of New Mexico through philanthropy and partnership.
