Mechanical Engineer I (Contract)

Role Overview Entry‑level Mechanical Engineer I focuses on supporting senior engineers in projects related to mechanical systems, propulsion, structures, or environmental systems. The position involves assisting in the analysis, design, and evaluation of mechanical systems and components, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing technical documentation and reports. The role requires clear communication skills, the ability to follow instructions effectively, and a collaborative approach to achieving project goals and meeting deadlines. Responsibilities Assist senior engineers in the analysis, design, and evaluation of mechanical systems and components. Collect and analyze data related to mechanical systems, propulsion, structures, and environmental systems to support engineering objectives. Contribute to the resolution of routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity. Prepare technical documentation and reports to communicate findings and support project objectives. Work effectively within cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals and meet deadlines. Communicate technical concepts and information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to ensure alignment and collaboration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience). Typically entry‑level 0–2 years of experience. Basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts. Basic application and use of technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts. Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity. Ability to work in a team and follow guidance from senior engineers. Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts and information. Preferred Qualifications Internship or co‑op experience in a mechanical engineering or related environment. Familiarity with design, analysis, and test methods related to mechanical systems, propulsion, structures, and/or environmental systems. Familiarity with engineering CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar, including detail drawing standards and GD&T. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills in a collaborative and dynamic work environment. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, material sciences, and their impact on mechanical systems.
