The goal is to unlock thefull potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insuranceprofessionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.How you will create an impactAble to exercise judgment, negotiate and make sound business decisions effectively based on increased level of authority.Deliver profitable growth through effective risk selection; execute on rate, coverage and limits management strategies; drive targeted correction or remediation strategies as neededResponsible for helping to assign and manage the work of a team of underwritersMonitor the adherence to underwriting requirements and guidelines for assigned book of businessSupport the delivery of consistent underwriting best practices, in accordance with underwriting guidelines, to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacyAssist underwriters in executing strategic initiatives; provide support and develop solutions to their issues/concerns (system, guidelines, training, reports, new project request, product amendments)Serve as referral point for field underwriting staff within stated authority; apply knowledge of market and industry to provide guidance on complex risks, exposures, and decisionsStay abreast of developments in competitive and risk landscapes to determine effect on renewals and new business opportunitiesProvide superior customer service to brokers and clientsDevelop strong, long term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of businessWork collaboratively with all members of the North America Financial Lines leadership team as well as Actuarial, Legal and Claims departmentsPromote a healthy risk culture through staff meetings, trainings, and promotion of regular risk reportingHelp create a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion; successfully conduct talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance monitoring/evaluation workServe as role model to all colleagues, leading by example as a senior member of the teamWhat you'll need to succeedStrategic orientation, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capabilityCommercial in approach; goal-oriented but flexible enough to value different methods of achievementStrong influencing and communications skills; able to work across multiple areas both internally and externallyDemonstrable experience formulating initiatives that support broader organizational aimsExperienced in building relationships externally and internally and managing key stakeholder relationships at executive and board level and with clientsHighly developed leadership skills that inspire teams to realize their potentialAbility to challenge effectively both people and portfolio strategy with the ability to effect change where appropriateExternal thought leadershipTechnical Skills and Experience7+ years of Financial Lines Underwriting, Agency or Brokerage experienceBachelor’s degree from a four-year college or universityAdvanced knowledge of the Financial Lines business (D&O, EPL, PTL, Fidelity) including product features, forms, regulatory environment and risksStrong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projectsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in s dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutionsProficient with underwriting analytical tools and technologyCollegial and collaborative in approach and styleUnderstanding of how to be effective within a matrixed structureAbility to adapt quickly in an evolving marketApproaches a challenge with a “can-do” attitudeAvailable to travel when requiredReady to make a bigger impact?
