Senior FOIA Paralegal

Senior FOIA Paralegal Employment Type: Full Time, Mid-Level Department: Legal Job Description CGS is seeking a Senior FOIA Paralegal to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This position allows candidates to demonstrate expertise in legal review and FOIA request processing, and other litigation support tasks. Responsibilities Conduct searches and analyze result sets to separate non‑responsive documents from responsive documents and screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions. Redact and code responsive documents. Perform legal research. Draft legal documents. Qualifications Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study. At least one year of litigation paralegal experience (trial experience very helpful). Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, and/or other eDiscovery and document review tools strongly desired. Experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules, regulations, and exemptions. Basic legal knowledge, including citation skills and experience with legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures. Ability to consistently deliver high‑quality work under pressure. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to work independently. Ability to obtain a government security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging. Two years of experience processing FOIA requests for federal agencies. Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
