Staff Accountant

Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Plymouth, MI. This role is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities, including recording journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will assist with payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and ensure accurate, timely posting of financial transactions. They will assist in preparing financial reports, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and help maintain compliance with internal controls and relevant regulations. The Staff Accountant will collaborate closely with operations and leadership teams, respond to financial inquiries, and contribute to process improvements that support the organization’s mission of high-quality pediatric care. Qualifications Strong general accounting skills, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and understanding of GAAP. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), with the ability to learn new financial systems quickly. Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally with clinical, administrative, and leadership teams. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and patient‑related information with discretion and integrity. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience). Prior experience in healthcare, medical practices, or multi-location service organizations is beneficial. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and basic financial analysis is a plus.
