Position Summary

The Mechanical & Plumbing Estimator delivers complete, accurate estimates that support competitive bids and profitable projects. This role partners closely with the Preconstruction team to define scope, close gaps, identify value-engineering opportunities, and support a smooth transition into Operations. You’ll analyze drawings and specifications, perform detailed takeoffs, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, and assemble clear, defensible bid tabs from pursuit through award.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents

• Define and clarify mechanical and plumbing scope of work

• Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment takeoffs

• Walk complex projects and identify non-standard conditions

• Identify and document scope gaps and value-engineering opportunities

• Coordinate with internal teams, GCs, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors

• Obtain, qualify, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes

• Assemble accurate and competitive bid tabs on schedule

• Validate estimates against historical and comparable project data

• Support project turnover from Preconstruction to Operations

• Follow up on awarded projects as needed

Qualifications

• Works with indirect supervision

• Fully competent in standard estimating practices

• Applies independent judgment to evaluate scope, standards, and solutions

• Adapts methods and develops solutions for unique or complex challenges

• Independently performs most assignments; seeks guidance for atypical issues

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
