Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician operates and maintains advanced composite manufacturing equipment, including paste mixing machines, MAD 3D printers, CNC mills, and lathes, to produce high-precision aerospace components. This role performs machining, post-processing, and finishing of composite parts, conducts inspections to ensure compliance with aerospace standards, and supports equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting. The technician documents all work performed, assists with shipping and packaging of parts for customers, and collaborates closely with engineering and operations teams to improve manufacturing processes while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain composite paste mixing machines, MAD 3D printers, CNC mills, and lathes to produce high-quality composite parts.
• Perform machining, post-processing, and finishing of composite components to meet precise aerospace tolerances measured in thousandths of an inch.
• Conduct detailed inspections and quality control checks using micrometers, calipers, CMM, and CT scanners to ensure parts meet aerospace standards.
• Support the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment to ensure consistent and reliable production.
• Monitor the 3D printing process, track temperatures, and verify material consistency to maintain high-quality output.
• Operate centrifuge equipment and manage resin/composite paste mixing processes, including loading materials into mixers.
• Work under a fume hood with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely handle materials and processes.
• Participate in production runs ranging from 4 hours to 2 days, ensuring continuous monitoring and documentation of process conditions.
• Perform one-for-one machining and printing work as part of a small team of three, contributing to coordinated production activities.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions to execute tasks accurately.
• Document work performed, record observations, and communicate findings to engineering and leadership for process improvement.
• Assist with shipping, handling, and packaging of finished parts to meet customer requirements and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to refine manufacturing processes and support new product innovation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to established safety and quality standards.
• Participate in team meetings and cross-functional discussions to stay aligned with production goals and project priorities.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of machining, manufacturing, or technician experience, preferably in aerospace or composites.
• Proven experience operating CNC mills and lathes in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and CT scanners.
• Basic knowledge of 3D printing technologies, composites, or electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions and SOPs.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities.
• Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a small, collaborative team setting.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing or composite part production.
• Familiarity with Direct Ink Write (DIW), extrusion-based 3D printing, or similar additive manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of resin and composite paste mixing processes, including vacuum centrifugal mixing.
• Previous experience working in startups or small businesses where versatility and adaptability are essential.

• Experience with assembly and production workflows in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with tight tolerances and precision measurements for aerospace-grade components.
• Ability to contribute to process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to CAD programs and the ability to collaborate with engineering on design and manufacturing considerations.
• Experience participating in new product innovation and supporting unique or emerging manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment with a small, highly interactive team. You will work closely with approximately seven team members on new product innovation and participate in a range of meetings throughout the week. The facility focuses on providing components to the aerospace and defense industry using a unique and evolving production process. Work involves operating advanced equipment under a fume hood while wearing appropriate PPE, monitoring production runs that can range from 4 hours to 2 days, and supporting an expanding operation as production cells grow from 2 to 10 over the next 1–3 years. New production equipment is being introduced, offering ongoing exposure to cutting-edge technologies and processes in a dynamic, growth-oriented setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broomfield, CO.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
