POSITION: Gifts Officer

STATUS: Regular Full-Time, Exempt. Monday through Friday; hours will vary to include special events and activities in the evenings and on weekends related to this position.

SALARY RANGE: $50,000-$60,000

REPORTS TO: Chief Advancement Officer

POSTION SUMMARY

The Gifts Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals supporting the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Gifts Officer manages an active portfolio of donors and prospects while developing a pipeline of new donors to advance the Museum's philanthropic goals. The Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating gifts and works collaboratively across departments to strengthen donor engagement, increase philanthropic support, and enhance overall donor experience.


Key Responsibilities

Individual Giving and Donor Relations

• Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with an emphasis on gifts up to $5,000.
• Identify, research, and qualify prospective individual donors and develop strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Build and maintain an active pipeline of new donors through relationship-building, networking, and prospect identification.
• Conduct donor outreach through personal visits, phone calls, written correspondence, and digital communications.
• Facilitate face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects to strengthen relationships and encourage philanthropic support.
• Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship activities, including donor acknowledgments, recognition, impact reporting, and ongoing engagement.

Fundraising and Advancement Support

• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Membership and Annual Gifts to support membership acquisition, retention, and renewal efforts, ensuring a seamless donor and member experience.
• Assist with planning and execution of Advancement events, including exhibition openings, high level member events, annual fundraising events, and donor cultivation activities.
• Support implementation of fundraising campaigns and initiatives designed to increase individual giving.

Collaboration and Administration

• Maintain accurate donor records and interactions within the museum's constituent relationship management (CRM) system.
• Write and prepare donor reports, prospect tracking, cases for support, LOIs, and fundraising activity updates as requested.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated donor engagement and consistent messaging.
• Represent the Museum professionally at public events, donor functions, and community activities.
• Contributes to a convergent organizational culture grounded in professionalism, mutual respect, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business administration, arts administration, or any related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in donor management, public-facing programs, in a museum, nonprofit, educational or cultural organization.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors.
• Strong customer service and front-of-house experience.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to gather logistical details and develop fundraising strategies.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Proficiency with Altru (Blackbaud) or comparable CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools (ie.AirTable).
• Proven ability to work effectively independently, in a team environment, and collaborating across organizational structure, dedicated to fostering a workplace of belonging.
