Description Assistant or Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, Pathologist, on clinician scholar pathway with an approximate 50:50 contribution to clinical service and academic pursuits. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full‑time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Translational Science & Therapeutics Division of Fred Hutch and the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP), School of Medicine at the UW. This position has an annual service period of 12 months (July 1–June 30). The primary appointment will be in the Translational Science & Therapeutics Division of Fred Hutch. The selected individual is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in anatomic pathology/clinical pathology. We seek candidates with expertise in hematopathology and molecular pathology and with interest and experience in pathology related to stem cell transplant and immunotherapy. Interest and expertise in pathology and genomics of lymphoid neoplasms would be preferred. The role may involve a leadership position as medical director of a laboratory location and participation in deep immunophenotyping and cell sorting for genomic investigations. Faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities include informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community. Faculty are expected to perform primary activities on site at Fred Hutch. Anticipated Start Date: FY26/27 (March 1 2026 – December 31 2026). Qualifications MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and American Board of Pathology eligibility or certification in anatomic pathology/clinical pathology (or foreign equivalent). Fellowship training in hematopathology (or foreign equivalent) and molecular pathology (or equivalent experience and expertise) required. Eligibility for licensure in Washington state and appointment at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Record of primary interest in pathology and biology of one or more hematologic malignancies, active clinical research interest, and peer‑reviewed publications. Demonstrable interest and expertise in genomics and precision oncology diagnostics in hematologic malignancies preferred, as is interest and expertise in lymphoid neoplasms. List of three references. Compensation & Benefits Annual base salary range: $274,689 – $305,431 for Assistant Professor rank; $312,892 – $351,993 for Associate Professor rank. Pay is based on factors such as degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. Faculty without credited time in rank generally start at the entry rate for their relevant specialty and rank. Position eligible for relocation assistance or a sign‑on bonus.
