Role Description

The Associate Director of Advertising, Retail Media is a full-time remote role responsible for leading retail media strategy and execution for key brand partners. This role oversees planning, optimization, and performance analysis of advertising campaigns across Amazon and other retail media networks, ensuring alignment with client goals and profitability targets. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing media plans, managing budgets, guiding channel tactics, and using data to refine audience targeting and campaign structures. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with internal teams and clients, provide strategic recommendations, and create clear performance reports that connect advertising investment to business outcomes. This position also includes mentoring team members, improving processes, and contributing to Vertical Rail’s thought leadership in retail media and ecommerce.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail and ecommerce environments, including Amazon or other major retail media platforms.
• Demonstrated team management and leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop talent.
• Background in sales, client-facing strategy, or account management with a focus on driving revenue and profitability.
• Operations management and budgeting skills, including campaign pacing, forecasting, and resource planning.
• Proficiency with advertising and analytics tools (e.g., Amazon Ads Console, DSPs, retail media platforms, reporting dashboards).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with comfort interpreting complex data sets and translating insights into actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting strategies, results, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior experience in agency, brand-side media, or performance marketing roles is highly beneficial.
