Position Summary

The Budget Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. This role works closely with department leaders and finance management to analyze financial performance, monitor budget adherence, prepare financial reports, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Budget Planning & Analysis

• Assist in the preparation, development, and administration of annual operating and capital budgets.
• Monitor departmental budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with approved financial plans.
• Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations to management regarding corrective actions.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting activities.
• Prepare financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.
• Generate budget-to-actual reports and communicate findings to department leaders.
• Track organizational spending trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Assist with long-range financial planning initiatives.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare recurring financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights to management.
• Support month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Maintain budget reporting tools and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested.

General Accounting Support

• Apply general accounting principles to support budgeting and financial reporting activities.
• Assist with account reconciliations and review financial transactions for accuracy.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and analysis.
• Review expenses, accruals, and account balances to ensure proper financial reporting.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure consistency between budget reporting and financial statements.
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

• Partner with department managers to develop and maintain accurate budget assumptions.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance budgeting efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of financial planning and reporting systems.
• Support cross-functional initiatives related to financial performance management.
• Maintain compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, or related financial roles.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles and financial statement concepts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
