Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Empower students with visual impairments and make a meaningful difference in their educational journey! An engaging opportunity awaits for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students across multiple campuses in the Irving, TX area. This full-time contract assignment runs from July 30, 2026, to May 28, 2027, and offers the chance to collaborate with a dedicated team in a dynamic, itinerant role.
This position is based on-site, serving approximately 12-15 students (including several homebound learners) ranging across six campuses. The caseload is adaptive, ensuring that every student's unique needs are met throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Texas State certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI)
- Proven experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally in a school setting
- Exceptional communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel between assigned campuses daily (travel required within the district)
- Adept at adjusting to shifting caseloads and campus assignments
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services in accordance with IEPs to students with visual impairments, including homebound learners
- Adapt curriculum and materials, ensuring accessibility and fostering independence
- Work proactively with families, general and special education staff, and related service providers
- Provide training and resources to staff regarding the use of adaptive techniques and technologies
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in evaluations, assessments, and IEP meetings
