The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part-time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years. Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool. Education Code §87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he/she/they is free of active tuberculosis. The fees charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for the fingerprint report is the employee’s responsibility. BASIC FUNCTION :

Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Political Science courses up to 10 hours/week Organize and teach all levels of Political Science classes Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning; Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses; Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester; Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired REQUIRED DUTIES : Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

Master’s in political science, government, or international relations OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, any ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B. EXPERIENCE : Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching experience which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Political Science to community college students. Physical Demands Range/Step: Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary & Benefits Salary Range PART - TIME (less than .60 FTE ): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
