A growing, self-perform underground utility contractor in Massachusetts is seeking a Project Manager to lead and deliver complex water, sewer, and storm-drain projects. What You’ll Lead

• Project Delivery — Oversee full lifecycle delivery of water, sewer, and storm-utility projects across the Commonwealth.
• Field Coordination — Work closely with superintendents, foremen, and crews to maintain daily production rates.
• Preconstruction Support — Assist with estimating, constructability reviews, and project setup.
• Stakeholder & Agency Management — Coordinate directly with municipal DPWs, local inspectors, MassDOT, and utility owners.
• Resource Planning — Manage manpower, heavy equipment allocation, and weekly production goals.
• Safety & Compliance — Ensure field execution meets OSHA standards, company protocols, and local Conservation Commission environmental bylaws.
• Leadership Development — Mentor foremen and superintendents to strengthen field leadership and operational bench strength.
• Operational Strategy — Partner with senior leadership on scheduling, financial forecasting, and navigating seasonal weather impacts.

What Makes You a Fit

This role is built for a field-driven utilities leader, not a desk-bound coordinator. You need to understand the realities of digging in New England—from rocky glacial till to handling legacy infrastructure.

You’ll excel here if you have:

• Deep Utilities Experience — Strong background in open-cut excavations, deep utilities, and water/sewer/storm main installations.
• Field-Up Progression — Ideally grew through the field (Foreman → Superintendent → PM/Ops) or possess equivalent heavy civil field grit.
• Production Instincts — Ability to drive daily output, manage trench safety, and keep crews moving efficiently.
• Mass Regulatory Familiarity — Experience navigating MassDOT standards, Chapter 90 projects, and local municipal street opening permits.
• Hands-On Leadership — Present, visible, and engaged on-site; comfortable managing both tight urban tie-ins and regional main extensions.
• Crew Respect — Ability to speak the language of the field, command respect in the yard, and solve problems collaboratively with crews.
