WORK DAYS: 208 days, Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Position is currently available and is tentatively scheduled to end 10/31/2026. This schedule also includes summer school .

SALARY: 19M - Management, salary placement at $56.38 hourly

Title: Licensed Mental Health Clinician Supervisor
Salary Range: Range 19M, Classified Management/Confidential/Supervisory Salary Schedule

JOB SUMMARY
Provide counseling services to students and parents in treating mental and emotional disorders of students. Assist the school team in making appropriate decisions relative to a student's educational objectives and his/her school program. Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures which relate to student mental health issues. Supervise and evaluate support staff as appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS

1. Required:
2. Valid Marriage Family Therapist License or Clinical Social Work License.
3. Knowledge of Federal and State laws and district policies regarding special education and student mental health.
4. Valid California Driver's License.
5. Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
6. Ability to obtain Federal Bureau of Investigation and California Department of Justice fingerprint clearance as required by California Education Code.
7. Tuberculosis Clearance.

B. Desirable:

1. Bilingual (Spanish).
2. Two years of related experience working in the counseling field with children and families.
3. Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential.
4. Master's Degree in counseling/social work or related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
5. Excellent communication skills and willing to work within a team approach.
6. Crisis Intervention Training Certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Provide counseling for students using varied methodologies.
2. Communicate with administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues and conflict and exchange information.
3. Conduct preliminary evaluations of school problems of students referred for counseling by administrators, advisors, teachers and others.
4. Recommend adjustments in the school environment when needed to provide for student success.
5. Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to mental health issues which impact student success.
6. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. Maintain confidentiality with complete security, with the exception of mandated child abuse reporting requirements and other legal mandates.
8. Offer family meetings; consultations with parents.
9. Meet schedules and time lines.
10. Plan and organize work with effective time management.
11. Maintain records and develop treatment plans.
12. Manage an itinerant schedule.
13. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and district adopted software.
14. Conduct small social skills groups, parent training groups, threat assessment, and mental health intakes.
15. Provide staff development in the area of emotional disorders for administrators, parents, teachers and classified staff who work with students.
16. Direct and supervise the paraprofessionals serving in the therapeutic learning environment.
17. Provide input in the performance evaluations of the paraprofessionals serving in the therapeutic learning environment.
18. Facilitate the referrals for all social/emotional services within the therapeutic learning programs and community with required parent permission and legal release to all applicable agencies.
19. Ability to build and maintain strong and effective communication skills with parents, staff and agencies (Mental Health, Regional Center, etc.)
20. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in the area of social-emotional goals.
21. Develop and monitor counseling IEP goals for students and provide benchmark progress updates.
22. Monitor student progress.
23. Implement conflict management training.
24. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to see and read fine print and work with small objects with or without vision aids.
4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels with or without aids.
5. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
6. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
7. Ability to reach in all directions.
8. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate computers.
9. Ability to drive a vehicle.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to concentrate on a single task for up to two (2) hours at a time.
2. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a variety of technology, instructions, and task methods.
3. Ability to meet deadlines in terms of work assignment schedules.

SOCIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Interact daily in person with other personnel and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and a cooperative attitude.
2. Because of the time urgent nature of duties and because work product of position is interdependent with that of other staff, consistent attendance is required.
3. Convey an understanding, patient attitude toward other students, parents, staff and members of community.
4. Maintain the privacy of confidential information including pupil data, staff data, or any other data.

SUPERVISION
The position is under the supervision and direction of the Director of Special Education.
