Director, Process Safety and Design

AbbVie seeks a Director of Process Safety and Design to lead global manufacturing process safety strategy and implementation. Reporting to the VP of Global Engineering, this role drives standardized processes, risk reduction, and compliance across the international manufacturing network while leading a team of subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

Establish and communicate process safety strategy for the global manufacturing network with regular leadership updates
Drive global Process Hazard Analysis efforts, capital project design reviews, and process safety training initiatives
Design, implement, and monitor a process safety roadmap focused on standardization, risk reduction, and compliance
Lead process safety reviews for major capital projects and provide technical input on design and safety integration
Develop process safety KPI dashboards and maintain alignment with industry best practices and available technologies

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
15+ years' experience in pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing or engineering environments
Demonstrated expertise in process engineering, process design, or technical safety disciplines
Proven experience leading and coaching diverse teams with global senior leadership influence
Ability to travel 30% due to global manufacturing site responsibilities
