Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a Medical Surgical acute care setting is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. This role supports patient activities of daily living, assists with clinical tasks, and facilitates smooth department operations in a critical access hospital environment. The CNA must possess acute care experience and hold all required certifications to ensure quality care and compliance with facility standards. Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility, feeding, and skin care.
• Perform clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, performing pulse oximetry, and assisting with diagnostic preparations.
• Support nursing staff by performing delegated patient care procedures and emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of equipment and patient rooms.
• Document patient care activities and communicate patient status changes to licensed professionals.
• Answer unit phone calls and perform clerical duties to support department efficiency.
• Float within scope to acute care, inpatient, swing bed, and observation units as needed.

• Current AK CNA License
• BLS Certification
• AK Food Handler's Card
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment

• Experience in critical access hospital settings
• Familiarity with ECS charting system
• Ability to float across multiple units within scope of practice

• No on-call requirement
• Floating to acute care, inpatient, swing bed, and observation units as needed
• Travel assignment with 26 or 13 week duration
• RTO (Request Time Off) limited to no more than 2 weeks for 26-week contract; all RTO requests must be submitted with application
• Preference for willingness to work holidays
• Candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility

• Night shift, 4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts
• Guaranteed 72 hours per 2 weeks with possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift every 2 weeks
