Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting provides direct patient care under supervision, assisting with daily living activities and supporting the nursing team. This role requires experience in LTC environments, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure high-quality patient care. The CNA will perform clinical and clerical duties while maintaining compliance with facility policies and state regulations. Responsibilities:

Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning. Perform range of motion exercises and skin care to maintain patient comfort and prevent complications. Collect patient data and specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum; record vital signs and communicate changes to licensed staff. Support patient care procedures including incentive spirometry, oxygen setup, and EKGs as needed. Prepare rooms and equipment for patient admission, discharge, and diagnostic tests. Provide post-mortem care and assist in emergency situations as directed by nursing staff. Maintain and clean equipment and ensure appropriate supply levels. Perform clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and coordinating equipment needs. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote patient well-being and quality care. Required Skills & Certifications:

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license with application submitted for Alaska CNA licensure if pending. Documentation of CNA license application including fee payment and verification of education. Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Alaska Food Worker Certification (to be obtained onsite during orientation). Ability to provide proof of valid CNA license from another state if Alaska license is pending. Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Previous travel experience as a CNA. Experience working in LTC facilities with a 1:20 patient ratio. Comfortable with electronic charting systems such as ECS. Special Considerations:

Must have already submitted Alaska CNA license application; pending licenses accepted with proper documentation. On-call not required; however, floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected. RTO (Request Time Off) limited to no more than 2 weeks for a 26-week contract and must be submitted with application. Travelers should be willing to work holidays as needed. Locals not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility. Facility shuttle transportation provided at start and end of contract. Scheduling:

4x12 hour shifts, variable schedule with either day or night shifts assigned based on facility needs at start date. Caregivers are generally not required to rotate between day and night shifts except for urgent staffing needs. Guaranteed 72 hours per two-week period, with possible call-off for one 12-hour shift every two weeks. Assignments offered for 13 or 26 weeks with traveler's choice of duration.
