Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) RN position is located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care on an 18-bed neuroscience intensive care unit that serves as a hub for critical neuro patient management, including stroke, post-surgical neurosurgery cases, and traumatic brain injury. The RN will deliver advanced critical care interventions, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and utilize specialized equipment to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, with a weekend block schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Thursday through Sunday options).
• Required Qualifications: Certification in ACLS and BLS, Wisconsin or compact Registered Nurse license, inpatient RN experience of at least 2 years within the last 3 years in critical care, NICU experience preferred, and ICU neuro experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma, stroke, ventriculostomy, ICP monitoring, and telemetry testing.
• Additional Requirements: Willingness to float as needed, pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria in two attempts, and demonstrate adult and pediatric cardiac rhythm recognition.
• Position Responsibilities: Management of neuro critically ill adult patients with complex diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgical care, and traumatic brain injury. Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring, ICP management, sedation, and specialized neuro equipment such as EVDs and CereLink monitors is required.
• Location: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792. Parking permit required through UW Transportation or alternative transportation options available.
• Additional Unit Information: The unit collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services, supporting a diverse neuro patient population with meaningful and dynamic clinical needs.
• Certifications and Testing: Must pass telemetry interpretation exam within two attempts, demonstrating full identification of lethal arrhythmias, with an 80% passing score in both adult and pediatric exams.
