Job Summary
The Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurse role is based in Madison, Wisconsin. The position involves providing specialized care on an 18-bed neuro intensive care unit that treats critically ill adult patients with neuro diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neurosurgical post-op, and traumatic brain injury. The role requires clinical expertise in neurocritical care, critical thinking, and the ability to perform complex interventions within a high-acuity environment.

Job Details

• Shift and Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 08/03/2026
• Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in nursing or equivalent, RN license valid in Wisconsin or a compact license, at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in neuro ICU or related specialty, ACLS and BLS certifications, experience managing neuro-critical patients, and Basic Arrhythmia experience. Epic electronic health record experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ICP or ventriculostomy management, trauma level II certification, and prior community hospital or ICU nursing experience.
• Certifications and skills: Managing arterial lines, EVDs, ICP monitoring, neuro-specific procedures, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and cardiac interpretation. Must pass telemetry test prior to start, with strict criteria for success.
• Additional Information: Candidate must be willing to float as needed. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. The job involves caring for adult neuro patients with complex conditions such as stroke, post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury, in a Magnet-status hospital environment.
