Level 1 Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Location: New York

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule / Shift: 4x12.0 - Weekend Blocked, D/N rotational position, Holidays/On-Call/Callback/Charge per unit needs, 48 hours/week only.

Job Description: The Level 1 RN in the Psychiatric Emergency Room will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing psychiatric crises. The role includes conducting assessments, planning and implementing care, administering medications, and collaborating with psychiatric staff to develop treatment plans.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
• Administer and monitor psychotropic drugs and other medications, noting reactions.
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
• Document all patient information accurately on medical charts and follow physician's orders.
• Perform administrative tasks including filing, answering phones, and completing progress notes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current NY RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Experience with telemetry is preferred.
