Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a direct hire or temp-to-hire opportunity in downtown Santa Barbara, CA. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the CFO and oversee day-to-day accounting, fiscal operations, reporting, audit preparation, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, cash management, cost accounting, and fiscal reporting.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Develop and improve systems for financial data collection, analysis, verification, reporting, and internal controls.
- Prepare technical financial reports and provide accurate analysis to support leadership decision-making.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure planning, and internal and external audit activities.
- Supervise, mentor, and support a tenured team of accounting and fiscal professionals.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $80,000 to $104,499.20 annually.
- Employment type: Direct hire or temp-to-hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage accounting operations across payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, cash management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and audit readiness.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and capital expenditure planning.
- Supervise and mentor accounting and fiscal team members while promoting accuracy, accountability, and collaboration.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting or finance experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, general ledger management, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
- Ability to prepare accurate technical financial reports and analyze financial data.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to support and develop a tenured accounting team.
- Valid California Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA designation.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financials.
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits in a complex accounting environment.
