About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Business Development and Strategic Research Partnerships to play a pivotal role in advancing its research mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing high-impact partnerships and business initiatives that align with the company's research priorities. This includes working closely with senior leadership to refine the external research alliance strategy and identifying opportunities for collaboration and growth. The role demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in business development, adept at fostering relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from academic researchers to industry partners, and investors. The AVP will also be tasked with driving the execution of partnerships, ensuring they deliver value and are in compliance with institutional standards. Applicants for the AVP position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree preferred, and a minimum of 10 years' experience in business development or strategic partnerships within complex organizations. The role requires strong strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to translate institutional strategy into actionable partnership programs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the research enterprise, including sponsored programs, intellectual property, and technology commercialization, and experience in evaluating innovation portfolio investment potential. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and manage a team, and to ensure that partnership activities align with the company's policies and regulations.
