The selected candidate will work on-site at this location as part of Votaw Precision Technologies' extended manufacturing operations, supporting the production of precision-machined components for the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets.Primary Functions and Responsibilities:Set up and operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs).Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices.Perform machine offsets and adjust feeds and speeds for optimal performance.Machine large metal components to precise dimensions and tolerances.Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues to minimize downtime.Follow quality standards, safety procedures, and production schedulesSupport for programming, ensuring proper use of programs & toolsAbility to work from travelers, blueprints, set up sheets, drawings and/or verbal instructions as well as limited judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals.Able to use appropriate measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, plug gages, etc.Maintain a clean work area daily as required.Skills, Education, and Experience:High school diploma or GED; machining certification or apprenticeship preferred.Experience operating VTLs, CNC lathes, or other precision machining equipment.Proficiency using precision measuring tools.Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, or similar CNC controls is preferred.Strong math, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.Able to understand complex machining theory and strategy.Ability to manage and prioritize a high number of set-ups and short run jobsAble to understand and interrogate complex mechanical drawings and tolerancesAbility to use common machine shop hand and measurement tools.Ability to set-up and run CNC Machines in a fast-paced environment.Aerospace experience is a plus. (5 yrs. minimum experience, 10+ yrs. preferred)Self-motivation, able to accomplish high level of work.Team player, actively participating in continuous improvement projects with coworkers.Demonstrate high skill level with the desire for continuous learning.Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environmentAbility to troubleshoot and edit programs.Must own tools appropriate to the job being performed.Special Requirements and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Requirements:Safety glasses required when in manufacturing environment.Hearing protection as needed.Personal Attributes:Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.Highly self-motivated and directed.Keen attention to detail.Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Work Conditions:Hours outside of a normal working day may be required to meet project deadlines or ability to work overtime to support production demand.Sitting for extended periods of time.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.Ability to work onsite, in a non-remote setting.Ability to safely perform the physical demands of a manufacturing environment, including prolonged walking, occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).Additional Requirements:This position requires the use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
