Job Description Medical Laboratory Specialist in the Army National Guard will conduct clinical laboratory tests on tissue, blood, and bodily fluids to help diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses. This role supports the healthcare team with accurate diagnostic information. Responsibilities Perform elementary blood banking and clinical laboratory procedures in hematology, immunohematology, clinical chemistry, serology, bacteriology, parasitology, and urinalysis. Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture. Pack, unpack, inspect, store, and distribute blood products. Assemble, disassemble, and maintain laboratory equipment. Analyze tissue, blood, and fluid specimens for diagnostic information. Test for bacteria or viruses and other pathogens. Required Skills and Qualifications Military enlistment in the Army National Guard. At least a junior in high school, or possess a high school diploma or GED certificate. Age 17 to 35. Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards. Meet citizenship requirements. Training & Education Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by 52 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom and field work. After completing the program, you may pursue certifications such as medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or clinical laboratory technician. Benefits Paid training and a monthly paycheck.
