Job Summary The Clinical Nurse II is a registered nurse practicing as a full partner on the health care team, consistently demonstrating safe practice. The role is based in the Cardiovascular operating room for pediatric patients, providing specialized patient care in a surgical setting. The nurse independently applies the nursing process, collaborates with the inter‑professional team, and maintains a safe environment to optimize outcomes. Essential Functions Patient and Family Centered Care Recognizes patients or their designees as the source of control and full partner in compassionate and coordinated care. Manages complex patient assignments appropriate to skill level. Engages in problem solving to address complex issues for safer, high‑quality care. Supports advanced care planning and up‑to‑date healing environments. Evidence Based Practice and Research Generates clinical questions and evaluates evidence using the EBP process. Integrates best evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences. Communicates needs for policy and procedure revisions. Safety Minimizes risk to patients, families, providers, and self through system effectiveness. Provides resource for safety concerns and participates in error analysis. Continuous Quality Improvement Utilizes data and QI methods to identify problems and opportunities. Integrates QI initiatives into individual plan of care. Teamwork Engages in cooperation and collaboration for safe, quality outcomes. Promotes effective team development and applies leadership skills. Technology / Informatics Uses information systems for documentation, data management, and decision making. Acts as a champion for clear and timely documentation. Professionalism Demonstrates lifelong learning and adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics. Supports development of others through precepting and constructive feedback. Leadership Collaboration and systems thinking to promote effective changes. Communicates confidently and adapts style to team needs. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred. Experience: 2 years as an Operating Room RN, scrub and circulate; pediatric experience preferred. License/Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days. or RQI Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Registered Nurse by California Board of Registered Nursing. Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) or RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support. Knowledge & Skills: Proficiency in operating clinical equipment, computers, and technology in the nursing practice setting. Judicious use of materials and supplies; fiscal accountability. Guides unlicensed assistive personnel as per California Nurse Practice Act.
