About the Role:

Vital Orthopedic & Spine Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Surgical Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you'll be the backbone of our surgical operations — ensuring patients receive seamless, compassionate care from consultation to the operating room. Responsibilities:

Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and surgical teams

Obtain prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases

Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling process

Communicate with surgeons, OR staff, and facility personnel to confirm case details and logistics

Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre-op instructions

Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance prior to procedures

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system

Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and orthopedic/spine surgical protocols

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator, preferably in orthopedics or spine

Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification

Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical terminology and procedures

Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite

Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Excellent communication and patient-facing interpersonal skills

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or healthcare certification a plus
