Assistant Meat Manager

Location: 1199 Texas Palmyra Highway ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer‑focused behavior with associates. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner. Focuses on continuous improvement in all areas of the department and makes changes to ensure progress. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a pleasant and positive attitude. Determines customer preferences in terms of size, appearance, and product selection. Generates finished decorated products in a timely manner. Ensures fresh, high‑quality merchandise using proper product‑handling techniques. Controls damages and minimizes product losses according to company procedures and standards. Cuts and trims product as required. Assists the Meat Manager with day‑to‑day operations including merchandising, advertising execution, associate engagement, and customer service. Coordinates sales and merchandising plans to maintain proper stock levels and freshness. Performs Meat Manager duties in their absence. Monitors competitor activity concerning merchandising, pricing, quality, and comparison signage. Oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, orders, and supplies. Assists with scheduling department associates, participates in training, rewards and recognizes performance, and delegates work assignments to maximize profitability. Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) for current and new associates. Manages inventory levels and reviews orders to meet customer demand. Maintains back‑room organization and product storage within company guidelines. Oversees shelf replenishment to ensure product availability, prioritizing specials, seasonal, local, and high‑velocity items. Uses cutting lists for product accuracy and variety. Checks and verifies all deliveries and invoices for accurate billing. Might assist with unloading merchandise and transporting to the sales floor or storage area. Enforces department practices concerning receiving, dating, and restocking to ensure proper product rotation. Monitors product quality and freshness. Breaks down deliveries. Controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, and reduces losses due to damage, spoilage, and shrink. Ensures associates follow company recipes for prepared products. Maintains freshness by removing and recording out‑of‑code products. Completes required product logs. Keeps meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Provides product suggestions, answers questions about cuts and preparation, and assists with special requests and future deliveries. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near‑expiration products per company procedures and removes unsaleable items to ensure quality. Might grind and cut certain meats and poultry. Weighs, wraps, and tags merchandise with correct price and weight. Maintains logs tracking freshness and quality. Adheres to all food and personal safety codes when handling products or using kitchen tools. Promotes 5S procedures to maintain back‑room and receiving area security and organization. Responsible for general sanitation; follows cleaning schedules to keep work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc., clean and compliant with health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly and empties bone cans. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties when trained. Provides training; ensures smooth workflow by cooperating with coworkers and superiors. Strives to continuously improve job performance. Uses all company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company‑sponsored footwear. May be called upon to assist in other departments. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises associates within the department in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a business‑related or food‑service‑related field desirable. Minimum (2) years’ experience managing in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment. Meat management experience preferred. Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.
