DCA is seeking a Principal Accountant for its Georgia Housing Finance Authority (GHFA) team.

Under general supervision and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) this position performs advanced professional accounting duties that require independent judgement and initiative. Duties include analyzing recording and interpreting financial transactions preparing specialized and standard accounting reports and providing information to auditors and other third parties. This position reconciles cash and investment activity to externally held investment portfolios enters daily cash management activity from external systems records investment purchase and sales transactions and other related portfolio activity for our mortgage loan programs.

SUMMARY

The Coordinated Entry (CE) System Coordinator works with Continuum of Care and other program staff in the Office of Housing Stability & Innovation (OHSI) to oversee all aspects of the Coordinated Entry System for the Southeast region of the Balance of State (BoS) CoC. This work is done alongside three CE System Coordinators and reports to the Coordinated Entry Team Lead. The CE Coordinator will ensure that all HUD required elements of coordinated entry are met and that preferred elements are met as possible. The CE Coordinator will manage the daytoday operations of the coordinated entry system including but not limited to the following activities.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the relationship of GL balance and its subsidiary ledger balances reconciliation of source data to accounting modules

• Ability to accurately prepare accounting entries and adjustments and perform mathematical computations
• Ability to retrieve information from the accounting system and identify and investigate discrepancies

• Ability to work with federal forms and applicable regulations

• Ability to review source documents such as accounting reports invoices reviews analyses and resolves related problems
• Ability to provide support to auditors and other reviewers and perform clerical responsibilities
• Responds to requests for information and assist colleagues in resolving clerical and accounting issues
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and collaborate with program managers
• Skill in Excel and data analysis methods
• Ability to interpret and present data to management team
• Ability to manage multiple tasks

AGENCY SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND Two year of professional accounting experience

OR

Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND Three years of professional accounting experience

OR

Bachelors degree in business curriculum from an accredited college or university AND Four years of professional accounting experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the agency specific minimum qualifications possess at least one of the following:

• Experience reconciling cash and investment accounts
• Experience recording journal entries
• Experience with investor or mortgage loan accounting

WORKING CONDITIONS(travel hours environment)

This position is currently designated as a hybrid (part in-office and part remote/telework) position. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and may require occasional overtime. Local periodic travel may be required

PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Work is principally stationary but the person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets office machinery etc. and constantly operate a computer and other office equipment.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
